Reduction Initiatives
As part of Gran Tierra Energy’s philosophy of Going Beyond Compliance, the company has two main environmental goals: leveraging the company’s resources to meaningfully address some of the most pressing environmental challenges facing Colombia, and minimizing the environmental impacts of its own operations. Gran Tierra aims to reduce greenhouse gases created by its activities through operational projects closely aligned with the company’s environmental goals.
In 2019, the company implemented corrective actions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions at our facilities including through advancements in gas-to-power projects at our fields.
Gas-to-Power projects are implemented at all of Gran Tierra’s major fields including Costayaco, Moqueta and Acordionero. These projects have significantly reduced the amount of gas flared by converting excess natural gas and using it to power Gran Tierra’s operations.
