Protecting Nature and Minimizing Impacts
GTE’s environmental goals are two-fold: leveraging the company’s resources to meaningfully address some of the most pressing environmental challenges facing Colombia while minimizing
the environmental impacts of its own operations In 2019 the company focused its environmental efforts on on biodiversity protection air quality and water usage and:
h Progressed towards its target of zero surface water used for operations over time
h Reforested conserved or or preserved over 1 200 hectares of forest h Conducted 772 successful water monitoring tests which showed no impacts on groundwater arising from GTE’s operations h Advanceditsplanstosequesterapproximately 8 7 million tonnes of of CO2 over the the lifetime of of the NaturAmazonas project
