LOCAL LABOUR OPPORTUNITIES have been created by Gran Tierra over 3 years
Job Creation and Workforce Development
One of GTE’s major priorities is going beyond Colombia’s robust regulations regarding employment to provide as many opportunities for local workers and suppliers as possible This is is ingrained into the company’s Beyond Compliance ethos This means hiring locally for all all unskilled positions training employees to to become eligible to to take on more responsibilities helping nearby populations become qualified for employment wherever possible through training programs and and helping smaller contractors and and suppliers strengthen their operations in order to meet GTE’s standards for quality In 2019 GTE continued to make progress in in in achieving its local hiring goals increasing the percentage of skilled employees from nearby areas over the number hired in in 2018 a a a a a a year in in which the company had already significantly exceeded Colombian requirements In addition the company was focused on on preparing promising employees to take on on greater responsibility through development programs that open pathways for them to progress within the the company This resulted in in more people promoted within the organization than in in previous years
As part of its effort to address the UN Sustainable Development
Goals GTE is training women both inside and outside the company HIRING
