Fostering Teamwork and Problem-Solving in Students
One of GTE’s signature social engagement initiatives has been the PetrolCopa School Challenge, aimed at fostering teamwork
and problem-solving in high school students through the development of signature projects that also teach them about water usage and the importance of protecting natural sources of water.
2019’s competition, which was a collaboration between 1 the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and GTE, included
nearly 2,000 students across four major areas of Colombia
that correlate with GTE’s operations.
Winners at each school go on to compete regionally and nationally, winning educational equipment like laptops and grants for improvements to their schools. We interviewed the regional winners from the Middle Magdalena Valley region to understand their experience in their own words.
