CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVING ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE
Gran Tierra’s environmental performance improved in
all areas in 2018 compared to 2017. The company’s environmental record has made steady progress. This was the result of upgrades to the environmental practices and procedures of three companies that were acquired and integrated into GTE.
Also contributing to 2018’s performance was implementation of ISO 14001’s rigorous standards across the company, which resulted in GTE refining many of its environmental processes and procedures to meet these international standards.
By achieving ISO 14001:2015 certification, Gran Tierra took a large step forward towards its goal of creating value for the Colombian people in an environmentally responsible way.
Gran Tierra’s environmental mitigation efforts, both those required by government regulations and those the company does voluntarily, are conducted in a strategic manner. This involves maintaining close alignment between the public and private sectors and understanding and addressing the root causes of environmental degradation before addressing them.
